   In the main building of Semey State medical university museum «Hero of Soviet Union M.Mametova» and «University history» is situated . In February, 1982 museum «Hero of Soviet Union Manshuk Mametova» opened on public principles. Initial material for museum creation was scientific student's report of student of 1st course of medical faculty of Semipalatinsk medical institute Dildash Kashtanova. At Soviet Union competition of student's works on social sciences at 1978 report of student D.Kashtanova «Heroic feat of Manshuk Mametova during the Great Patriotic War» awarded of winner of competition, by medal, diploma of Ministry of high and secondary education. Continuation of this work has poured out in mass participation of students of Semipalatinsk medical institute in creation of historical museum «Hero of Soviet Union Manshuk Mametova». She was student of the second year of pediatric faculty of Almaty medical institute, her childhood has passed in our city. Students of institute under direction of senior lecturer of History chair A. L. Ptushchenko have decided to immortalize memory of compatriots of the same age - to create historical museum. To museum opening preceded more than three years of laborious search and self-denying work of many students and supervisor of studies A.L.Ptushchenko. They many times went to cities Nevel, Velikie Luki, Alma-Ata, Uralsk where she lived, studied and has made heroic feat.

 

   The museum exposition «M.Mametovoa” consists of five sections: “Childhood of Manshuk","Youth of Manshuk","Feat of Manshuk","Brother-soldiers», «In memory and hearts». "M.Mametova's" historical museum works more than 27 years and spends the following work: collects, considers, stores and studies the subjects of material and spiritual life of M.Mametova, her brother-soldiers - 100 shooting brigades, generated in August, 1942 in Alma-Ata.

 

   In February, 1986 museum "University History» opened on public principles. The founder was the senior lecturer of General surgery chair of SSMI S.Sharipov. 
   In museum all history and activity of medical university, since its basis till today is reflected. In 1952 medical institute in Semipalatinsk has opened by decision of Ministerial council and decision of Ministry of Health of USSR about organization of medical institute in Northeast Kazakhstan. In museum «University history» opening of faculties and departments is reflected: medical faculty - 1953 year, pediatric faculty – 1963, postgraduate faculty in Pavlodar – 1983 year, Kazakh department – in 1989 year, stomatological faculty – in 1991 year, foreign department – in 1995 year, sanitary-hygienic and pharmacy faculties – in 2003; organization and development of chairs, improvement of educational and scientific process. Activity of chairs and courses, faculties, administrative part, library, student's life, social life, student’s self-management, achievements in sport, high school government awards are presented in museum. Also gallery of portraits of rectors, graduates - outstanding scientists, professors, PhD doctors of SSMU is placed. The big show-window is devoted to work of scientists-physicians against explosions on Semipalatinsk nuclear test. On other show-windows certificates, copyright certificates on inventions, exhibits of inventions have taken places. Bright decoration of museum is memorable Red Flag of Central Committee of Communist Party of Kazakhstan and Ministerial council, handed to building group of institute.

   

   For the last two years exposition of museum is filled up with 35 copies of valuable, rare materials presented in gift from the various organizations and private persons.

   

   A.L. Ptushchenko was permanent head of museum within 30 years. In different years in museums L.Kanyrova, M.A.Raisova, N.M.Jakovleva worked. Since September, 2009 by order of rector of high school museum is independent structural division of medical university. Now the director of museum is Kuttybaeva Sandugash Toleugalievna, in the last teacher, university library head. Since 2004 keeper of museum funds is Kashkarova Oksana Anatolevna.

  

   In work of "M.Mametova" museum and «University history» is guided by Law of RK «About protection and use of monuments of cultural history», statute «About SSMU museum» and statute «About council of SSMU museum».

 

   At museum of medical university since October, 2009 the student's club of specialists in museum management which is guided by statute about «Student's club of specialists in museum management». The head of Clib is student 4 course of public health faculty Bespalinova Ajgerim. Club is effective centre of formation of scientific outlook, humanism, patriotism, moral, culture among student's youth.

   

   Museum «Hero of Soviet Union M.Mametova» and «University history» on the basis of SSMU is cultural and educational establishment purposefully collecting, storing, exhibiting scientific values. Museum work is conducted in three directions: search - regional studies, education of patriotism among student's youth and scientific - search.

  

   According to results of review-competition among the city museums organized and spent by Semey city council of veterans in 2010 on celebration of 65 anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 yy. Museum of medical university has won first place.

   

   Museum primary activity is connected with patriotism education, studying of history of Fatherland, development at student's youth of humanism. Excursions for numerous youth audience of SSMU students, students of high schools and colleges, school children are conducted. Frequent visitors in museum are veterans of Patriotic War and work, participants of Afghani events, representatives of public organizations of East region, foreign visitors. Within academic year «Courage Lessons», «Memory Lessons», conferences, thematic parties, meetings with the senior generation are constantly spent, articles in local and regional, republican newspapers are published, performances on TV are seen.
